LYVE Systems Consultants utilizes appropriate methodologies to organize and manage project and support services. This assists in managing the risks inherent in software project and support activities, enhancing the quality of the solution whilst containing costs. The investment in methodology tasks and activities pays for itself many times over.
The following notes relating to project services are important to be aware of:
-
The success of a project depends heavily on the involvement of both LYVE Systems Consultants AND the Client. A team effort is required, and our methodologies incorporate this philosophy.
-
An important goal of our approach is to empower the Client to take ownership of the system and the project from the outset. We provide you with the training, information and assistance necessary to make appropriate decisions, and to carry out the tasks needed to properly implement the system. In addition, we provide resources to perform tasks allocated to us by you.
-
As a result of your active involvement in the project, you are able to manage the allocation of tasks to LYVE Systems Consultants, and therefore contain services costs.
-
You are strongly encouraged to use permanent staff on the project. Temporary staff usually have little or no knowledge of your environment and needs. They also take critical knowledge of the new system, needed by you once the system is operational, with them when the project is over. This often leaves a knowledge void that can compromise the success of the system.
-
We will ask you to appoint a System Owner, who will have overall responsibility for the management of the project. This should be a permanent staff member, who is a senior person within your finance department. This role is critical to the success of the project, and is therefore essential to fulfill. It will also be necessary to appoint a Module Owner for each module from your permanent staff. An Executive Sponsor may also be needed. The responsibilities of each of these roles will be discussed with you.
-
Project management and administrative activities, incorporating methodology tasks, are provided by our resources during the project and when providing support services. Whilst adding a small cost, they contribute substantially to the overall success of the project and support services. An implementation that fails as a result of poor management can materially affect your business, and this risk easily justifies the additional tasks needed to ensure this does not happen.
Each IT project is different and your LYVE Consultant will work with management and staff to ensure that the least amount of disruption is experienced by all involved. Change can be very stressful for many people and it is our goal to alleviate as much stress as possible during software changes or upgrades. |
